Teleprompter

A teleprompter displays a presenter's script and scrolls it in time with their delivery, positioned over or beside the camera lens so they appear to be looking straight at the audience while reading. In the UK it's often called an autocue (originally a brand name).

The scroll is usually driven by an operator who matches the presenter's pace — speeding up, slowing down, pausing and jumping as needed — rather than running at a fixed speed. When the prompter script is fed from the same running order the rest of the team uses, the words and the show structure stay in sync.
